As a New Year Approaches

I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about 2014.  I'm not sure why, exactly.  It could be that the word that's presented itself to me as the most likely candidate for the coming year has been weighing on my mind.

It feels heavy and I've really being wrestling with it the last several weeks.  The mere fact that it's still hanging around, poking me in the ribs and whispering in my ear like the Ghost of Christmas Future is an indication that it's probably the 'right' one.  Nevertheless, I still have a few days before the ball drops, the bell tolls, and the new year begins to decide.

I've kind of been giving it a test run, in the meantime. The last couple of days I've been trying it on for size, you know, to see if it's going to be a good fit or if it is, in fact, to large for me to carry this year.

Has a word been stalking chosen you for 2014 yet?

Wonderful blog. My name is Bobbybgood1 and I found your blog by way of Catherine of Corner of Cat's Mind. I hope we can become blogfriends. You pose a very good question. I think the word for me in 2014 is Risk. Just put everything on the line and go for it! If it's going to be, it's up to me. Cheers!!

I've tried on many a word for next year and none of them feel right. I'm thinking one word is just not enough... and my brain hurts from all of the pondering. So I'll quit. But you have me curious as to yours.

This is a helpful exercise, as I will be putting all my eggs in one basket this year. I can't go with just one word, but I can whittle it down to two; verbs: Concentrate and Believe.

Hey Carolynn! I'm looking forward to your 2014 word. I think I have mine. I've been working on it a couple of weeks now. A new year always presents such opportunities doesn't it?

Keep well my friend!

I have to admit I've never even thought about having a word for the upcoming year. If anything it would likely be anticipation (not very inspiring I know). I'm never certain what a year will bring, and while I may plan for some things (like trips) often it the unplanned that brings the greatest joy.

Good luck with your word!

Nancy: The key for me is not to search for a word, but rather to be open to the word (or words) that keep presenting. You may find, now that you've stopped working so hard at it, that the word(s) will appear.

Laura: I'm excited to discover what it might be.

Jane: Quiet meditation sometimes helps to reveal a word. Having a word for the year is not, however, a requirement. If it's not something that fits in with your way of operating in the world, that's okay too.

Caroline: I know you've had your word for some time now and I'm on the edge of my seat with anticipation. :o)

Karin: Those are interesting choices. I look forward to seeing how they play out for you in 2014.

Catherine: These big reveals of everyone's personal word is like Christmas all over again. I'm looking forward to hearing what yours is and supporting you in it. :o)

I pray GOD will keep you all safe and give you much peace this coming new year.

So very sorry to read about your sweet Teddy.

The word "Pause" is my word for this coming New Year. Pause and think before I say or make decisions of any kind; think how my actions or words will affect others and hopefully not in a negative way.

I'm looking forward to your reveal, Carolynn. No word presented itself to me for 2013. I will wait and see what may come for 2014 ~
