At any other time in my life, if I'd been asked to name my favourite season, I'd have chosen Spring, without equivocation.
I can honestly say, this is the first time Autumn has vied for my affections with such success. I can't quite put my finger on why I have a new fondness for this changing time of year.
Perhaps it's the golden light that dresses everything in honey tones, or the way the heat of summer returns each day after a cool night that passes under a canopy of brilliant stars.
It could be the bounty of the harvest that is well underway here and the way it infuses everyone with a sense of purpose and abundance.
Neighbours whom we haven't seen all summer are beginning to drop by again to visit, bringing with them the spirit of community once more.
Whatever the reason, I'm discovering that Spring's counterpart is an elegant lady with a graceful beauty all her own and I welcome her company.
