My Studio/Office redecoration project is close enough to being complete to finally share a few photos with you.
I'm not very good about remembering to take "Before" shots. It seems that every time I begin something like this, I forget to take photos until the project is already underway.
There are only two rooms on the top floor of our new home and both posed a bit of a design challenge for me initially, due largely to the many and varied roof lines and cantilevered walls. The rooms are not very large and, as you'll see in a moment, the previous owner's daughter chose lilac for her bedroom wall colour. It covered everything but the floor and that's a lotta purple. I have nothing against the colour, per se, in fact I once painted my kitchen a fabulous shade of purple. Nevertheless, it had to go!
The room I chose as my new Studio/Office is located to the left of the landing at the top of a narrow staircase. This is the view of the room from the doorway.
Stepping into the room and turning to the left you see a small closet, the corner of my black desk, the crazy roof lines, and...more of that purple.
Turn left again and you're back where we started at the entrance of the room.
Come back tomorrow to see details of the transformation that took this room from Purple to Perfect.

I can't wait to see the transformed room.
It's an interesting little place, isn't it?
Those are some crazy roof lines! I look forward to your creative results.

June: It's quirky. We've dubbed it our Dr. Suess house because of all the little eccentricities.
Catherine: I know, right? It's like, where does the wall end and the ceiling begin?
Nice room!!! Looking forward to seeing the finished product!!!
I love attic rooms, all of the angles and cubby holes. Makes me feel safe and enclosed in the arms of the house when I am in one. Can't wait to see your transformation.
Looking forward to it. And the ceiling design looks all "Little Women" cozy to me.
Oh, that's what I love about old farm houses! The unique shaped rooms and interesting roof lines. :) I love rooms with character. Can't wait to see what you've done.
I like all the angles - they make your room unique. I look forward to seeing how you decorate your new space.
Three decades ago I had a friend who lived in a newly built house. I will never forget how she ooh'd and aah'd about all the weird little corners in our small 1924 cape when she first visited. She made me feel so good and forever after I appreciated all the quirks in our little house.
Deb & Karin: It IS pretty cozy up here and I get a great view of the fields, too.
Chieftess & C-ingspots: I'm looking forward to the big reveal, myself. *grin*
Sharon: I do like the character of this home. The oddness of all the different lines did create a bit of a challenge for me during the concept stage.
Can't wait to see the finished product
