Fruits of Desire

I believe our skills and abilities improve when we hang out with friends who are better than we are at something.  We're forced to improve our game or fall behind.

"You're only going to be as good as the people you surround yourself with."

The internet is filled with talented people and one such person is Caroline at Constantly Evolving.  Her specialty is food photography and her images are tantalizing and mouthwatering.

"Find the most talented person in the room, and if it's not you,
go stand next to him.  Hang out with him."
Harold Ramis, Actor

The other day, I decided to play around and try my hand at photographing some of the season's delicious bounty in a style reminiscent of and inspired by Caroline's imagery.

As I find myself in this new season of experimentation, engaging more fully with my creative awareness, this simple act of practicing a new technique was thoroughly absorbing, playful, and fun.

"Take time to mess around.  Get lost. Wander.
You never know where it's going to lead you."

The fruit seemed to take on a personality of their own that underwent yet another, more provocative change during the editing process.

I don't think food photography is my calling, but I love the results and it felt good to stretch, learn a few things, and grow a wee bit, in the process.

"Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing."
Salvador Dali

Carolyn, a new calling, seriously. Great shots, I love your style.

How good does it feel to spread those wings...stretching, growing, creating?

Watermark those photos. Own them.

Jen: Thank you. I'm pretty pleased with the results too. I have a confession to make...I don't know how to watermark. I've also heard that anyone who is so inclined to steal photos knows how to remove a watermark, as well. Nevertheless, I guess I'm going to have to learn something new again.

Christina: Thank you. I know what you mean!

Those berries look positively VOLUPTUOUS! I like the crinkly white underneath. Nice touch.

I love these shots! I'd never guess it was your first foray into food photography if you hadn't said so. So beautiful! I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Oh honey...wow...you are too kind. I love these photos. And I know what you mean by surrounding yourself with people that force you to " do better". I find that so much here in the blog world...inspiration. And you my dear always inspire me! Xoxo

I love these! I can't tell you how many times your images have come to mind recently. We enjoyed an abundance of fresh berries and cherries this summer. Your photos capture how luscious they are ~
