We Did It!
For everyone who lent their support to ending the donkey roping event in Van Horn, Texas this weekend - WE DID IT!
My friend, Linda Carson, at the 7MSN Ranch had this happy news to report:
"I have personally spoken to the sheriff's office in Culbertson County, Texas, at 12:50 p.m. Mountain time today. According to the dispatcher I spoke to (Badge #361), Sheriff Carrillo says the donkey roping event on June 23 has been cancelled because of public input and the number of complaints received. We did it!"
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to the tip of my nose, for stepping up and doing your part for these donkeys, my friends.
Now the next step is to get the donkeys placed with the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue, who is standing by to take them as soon as the organizers of this event are ready to relinquish them to their care.
This will be a costly venture. You have supported this cause by signing the petition, writing letters, and placing phone calls. Now would be an excellent time to offer your financial support, as well and you can do that by going here.
There is a list of e-mail addresses here, if you'd like to pen a note of thanks to those who made the decision to cancel this event.
Let the happy dancing commence!

Excellent news!
How wonderful! Thank you for helping to get the word out.
Isn't that wonderful?
Good day for all!
Isn't it great!? I was so heartsickened when I heard about this. I just couldn't believe that this stuff takes place in a realm of family entertainment. I was one of the many, many voices who urged for cancellation, and I'm here with you and everyone else now...saying thank you God for allowing us the ability to make a change. It may be a small change in the grand scope of humanity...but by God, we did it!!! Just like a trickle of water changing the face of a mountain; together we make a river of change. Awesome!!!
I was so thrilled to hear the event was shut down. I've been tweeting to get the word out and was so happy to tweet that the efforts brought about a victory.
